I do believe writing and Masculinity have a common causation.
Writing is a method how to transfer experience and knowledge trough generations. A very masculine endeavor.
Women can read and write too, but they only use it to transfer feelings, not experience and knowledge. But they can do this with gossip as well so for them writing is not that important and they do not advance it.
