Ideology cannot be solely be defeated by physical arms. But also by the combination of freedom of information,Critical Thinking and exposure to reality as much as possible can undo the effects of the indoctrination.
Likewise detach ideology from one's own identity and leave a person room so as to avoid them feeling personally attacked and hence defensive and dogmatic. This requires a particular tact to be achieved.
