A former Catholic high school math teacher's alleged months-long affair with a 17-year-old student has landed her behind bars — while possibly pregnant with the boy's baby.
Mary F. Gilles, 28, was fired from Pacelli High School in Austin, Minn. Tuesday after allegedly confessing to the sexual trysts which began in her home back in February, according to the Star Tribune citing the felony charges.
The educator's arrest reportedly follows an internal investigation by a school administrator whose suspicions grew after seeing the pair together long after school had closed.
The school administrator tapped into the student's school email account and after finding nothing suspicious, searched his personal email.
There she discovered numerous emails with "sexual relationship content" as well as more recent emails revealing Gilles' suspicions that she may be pregnant.
he student, who is nine years her junior, allegedly confessed to having sex with Gilles and having used a condom during four or five occasions between February and June.
They took a summer break from their romps before resuming their relationship in September, he said.
Gilles, who described their sexual encounters as occurring monthly, was charged with six counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
She was arrested Monday and is being held at Mower County Jail on $600,000 bail.
