Tel Aviv, Israel Datasheet and the reasons why I'm leaving

What about Russian Israelis? Are they real?

Yes they are very real. Some cities have more than others. Haifa, the northernmost port city in Israel, has a huge population. Lots of signs in Russian, lots of Russian people around who don't speak English, whereas the typical "Israeli" does speak English.

In Tel Aviv you will get all kinds, but Haifa is the spot to go to if you want to focus on Russian Israelis.

A Haifa storefront.

I heard different Israelis give different estimates of how many Russians there are in the country, but there are clearly a lot. Russians are the largest, most distinct "foreign" community in Israel without a doubt. Many continue speaking Russian, use VK, and basically seem to be a bit apart from mainstream Israeli society. Of course some assimilate and grow up speaking Hebrew and English and have no problem adapting.

Near the Tel Aviv Bus Terminal, I found this place:

Store sign is multi-lingual but inside all the meat is labelled in Russian.
