Don't agree with this. Especially in tier 2 cities and below cities. Also almost any city outside LA, SD, SF, NY, Miami (where style is taken more seriously).
Even if the British guy was wearing baggy clothes I really think if he pepped up his accent and English charm he would still get multiples of the attention the same looks/style an American guy would get.
No different than traveling abroad for White God Factor. Away from the coasts and in tier 2 minus cities it is still a huge advantage.

Fair enough, I was mainly talking about NYC (which is the only place I visited). Im not in a position to comment on those areas as I've never visited them.
