Two kinds of game need to be broken down:
Game when a woman finds a man attractive (meaning just be a cool guy and display confidence if she's already attracted to you to begin with), and game when she doesn't, thus leading to "tricks", or early PUA stuff.
It's the age old, true and tried debate of game, the looks topic.
A guy with 7+ looks won't need as much game in the short-term, but will still need LTR game.
A 6ft tall, clean cut, good looking guy, rich (Christian Grey protogtype) essentially has game without having to say a word to all women. Obviously, his personality still matters.
Some women will still prefer hipsters, tatted guys, musicians, etc. There's a lot more variance with woman as to types.
The other thing, a lot of women have so many options now thanks to facebook/tinder/POF/OKC/blendr/coffeemeetsbagel, that they're willing to pass on the type of guy they would have considered a "good catch" only 10 years ago - even if that guy shows interest in them. Ratios aren't in favor of men in most of the modern world (if not all) either.
