I would argue the CCP is not doing enough to combat its male surplus issue. Yes, discouraging "leftover women" is a good start, but that's merely getting their women to reach "full marriage production limit" (i made that up - think of that as the full employment production limit from economics). But even if there were no leftover women and every woman got married, there would still be a surplus of men who are marriageless (not to mention the defacto polygamy that China's super rich male minority engage in through mistresses #yesallchinesemencheat). China needs to do the following things if it doesn't want to encounter more and more civil disorder in the near future:
1) legalize porn. Make it the soma for the beta males, brave new world style.
2) legalize prostitution, especially at the lower end.
3) make it super super easy for men to import brides from neighboring countries. Chinese men already do this by going to Vietnam because their purchasing power is much greater. But perhaps the CCP can provide a small subsidy.
This is not to mention that the gender issue dovetails with their shrinking labor force and greying population.
