Try the Xposed Framework - you'll be able to change almost anything on your phone without having to learn anything about android or computers - it's the easiest way to customize your android; for starters, find the XVolume module in the app, select how many steps and you'll have much more control over volume - 45 steps is much better than default 15 and is perfect for Viper.
Xposed isn't really hard to figure out - it's easier than setting up Viper!
