Yes, this is the foundation of neuro linguistic programming.
NLP gets a bad name because dorks and losers throw around the term but don't actually understand it or use it properly.
The most basic NLP exercise is to create your "home base" of power. It's similar to what your professor had you do.
Once you have this "home base" of power, you always return there when you need a recharge or when you are getting your ass kicked.
Very powerful stuff when done right.
