I haven't seen anyone bringing up safety concerns in both countries. I didn't feel safe in Brazil out of tourist areas. I got robbed once and other tourist got pick pocketed too. I have never been to DR so I have nothing to compare to.
Women in Brazil are so diverse : from German looking blonds to African looking negritas. What about DR? Aren't they all pretty much the same looking Caribbean black? I am also guessing most DR women you will meet will be semi - pro.
