I would definitely agree from all that I've heard about Japan that Korea is generally cheaper for daily expenses.
I'm interested in seeing how I would do in Japan actually (of course, that wouldn't be the only reason I visit). I'd like to see how they react to Korean Americans. I was hitting up this Japanese foreign exchange student at a house party recently and she said that she's never met anyone who disliked Koreans, which honestly surprised me a little bit (for those who don't know, the two countries have this complicated rivalry).
