This is basically an advertisement masquerading as an article. One of the drawbacks of the Internet age is the blending of news and ads.

If you click on the link, it shows the alleged stats come courtesy of the Allianz Life Insurance Company. The full "article" (i.e. ad) contains the following quote:

"Allianz Life is dedicated to the mission of achieving financial literacy and independence for every American, so we're especially keen to design solutions that are relevant, responsive, and sensitive to helping women accomplish greater financial security," noted Libbe.

This is self-promotion for the company. The story goes on saying that 60 percent of women they surveyed were "primary breadwinners" yet they feared being poor. The solution? Why, sign up with mega-company Allianz, for "insurance and annuities" of course!

To summarize, the ripoff artists at Fortune 500 companies are now targeting women, having already taken men to the cleaners. They're drumming up fears to sell their useless product. In other words, this is the more expensive, sophisticated version of those cleaning supplies women desperately needed in the 1980s to keep those pesky odors away.

Women really will become bag ladies unless they can learn to suss out the bullsh*t that 99.9 percent of advertisers foist on the public.
