I had both of my LTRs in their countries. They were both great experiences. Unfortunately lying and cheating are common in FSU and SE Asian countries. I caught both of my GFs cheating, the Ukrainian while we were living together and the Filipina when I was away. I am very intuitive and an average guy who was madly in love wouldn't have caught either of them.
