I think Shakira's whiteness is more obvious if you put her next to other Caucasian women. I just picked Sheryl Crow and Fergie to compare. If Shakira wasn't well known to be from Colombia and she just lived in the midwest, nobody would think she's anything but white. She looks every bit as white as the other two.

I tend to view race the way Brazilians view it. If you look mostly white, then you're white. If you look mostly black, then you're black. Even if you aren't completely undiluted white or black. I just can't look at Shakira and see any features of her face that look African or indigenous in origin.

I find it interesting how it seems white people or hispanic people have a hard time recognizing their own kind from an ad-mixture. What I mean by that is I as well as most black people I know, can tell someone is black, no matter how light they are or how fine their features are. . There have been many times when one of my white or hispanic friends is trying to describe a pretty girl to me, but when I ask them what race she is they'll say, "I'm not sure, either white or Hispanic." Now, these pictures of Crow and Fergie. Forget about the skin color, you really can't see the difference in facial structure between Shakira and these other girls? White people in general usually have stronger jaw lines, and just less rounded features in general. Again, none of these girls are probably wholely any one race, but clearly Sheryl Crow and Fergie are for the most part white, while Shakira is not. Now, Shakira supposedly has middle eastern in her. I can buy that, as many times they look Hispanic as well. Still, I can't see how anyone could mistake Shakira for a white girl.

Hispanic isn't a race.
