The only way for a male to be truly alpha in my opinion. If a guy is "low game looking", he can never be truly high-game.
The truth is, the PUA community knows there's lots of nerds/not very attractive guys reading their material, and they simply have to pander to them by telling them anyone can get hot women, doesn't matter how fat or nerd-looking.
It's simple pandering, important part of the sales process.
A lot of times when you see these "what the f*ck" cases...or "how did he get her", you know the guy doesn't really have her the way a good-looking guy could. In other words...She isn't crazy about him and isn't gonna lose much sleep at night if he leaves (unless they were high-school sweethearts or something, then maybe). When you see a guy who is across-the-board impressive, the chance he really has her wrapped around his finger goes up astronomically.
I don't think using celebrities is a good example as well.
