For those who want to practice their spanish here's an article in the main Medellin newspaper about the safety in parque lleras and the methods 'paisa' prostitutes use to steal and poison tourists. Give it a read.

That's a great article and states that one of the main ways gangs rob tourists is by girls meeting guys on Tinder, proving once again that BattumMania doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.

Last Wednesday, the Attorney General's Office announced the capture of three people named as alleged perpetrators of forming a gang dedicated to drugging and robbing visitors from pink areas such as Lleras Park in El Poblado (Medellín).

The captured persons, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office, are two women and one man and would use the victims as a modus operandi to loot the bank accounts.

The victim of this band would be the Canadian professor Ramazan Gencay, who disappeared on December 6 and was found dead 18 days later. Their bank accounts were apparently looted by those arrested today.

Gencay 57 years old disappeared in the pink area of La 70 and was found dead in the La Volcana sector located in the village of San Sebastián de Palmitas.

The mayor of Medellin, Federico Gutiérrez, explained that the authorities were able to determine that the teacher had contacted a woman through the Tinder application to request "some services" and that this woman was part of the gang dedicated to contacting people seeking sexual services and then they apply drugs (benzodiazepines).

"An overdose was generated when it was supplied," said the official, who indicated that the gang leader and two women were captured. They were found with several victims' credit cards and they were asked to report them. "There is a catch pending," he confirmed.

"There is a particularity that they are foreign citizens who do not file a complaint because the gang threatens to tell their wives, since they already have telephones and photos and videos of these people," Zuluaga said.

He said that the professor was in Medellín "doing academic activities" and asked to be careful with the use of these applications. "They are deadly traps that seek sex and drugs that can end in death," he concluded.

The captures were made with the support of the Gaulas of the Police and the Army. The detainees will have to answer for the crimes of conspiracy to commit a crime for the purpose of kidnapping and aggravated robbery.
