We've had literally the life of our species to adapt to and use photons of different wavelengths. And even then: after six billion years or so, human beings still regularly die as a direct consequence of overexposure to plain, boring photons from our sun (heat exhaustion/sunburn, or skin cancer). 15 minutes exposure to the sun with no blockers - that's all it can take. And that's just Jeb Bush low-energy photons in the visible range or maybe the ultraviolet range.

That's just the radiation that untrammelled nature provides us. We are now proposing to bathe our bodies in streams of subatomic particles which nature does not throw at us, or rather bathe our bodies in a stream of subatomic particles that we haven't had a few spare million years to adjust to.

Mobile phones - and this will be bitterly opposed by the telcos in the same way the tobacco industry opposed a similar insight into cigarettes - seem to be correlated with a higher incidence of brain cancers. There are brain surgeons (Charlie Teo in Australia) who absolutely will not sleep with their mobile phone in the same room or next to their bed, and will only deal with people on speakerphone because it keeps the phone away from his head. The technology has not had the test of time to tell us whether it's going to be harmful on balance to us or not.
