Yes the good ol days in Canada where people went to bars around 9 or 10 pm and waited for a live band to start up so the dancing could begin. Where the beer/whiskey flowed along with the pot along with the odd person on uppers (or acid thats how far back I go)
We have a culture that now goes out at 12 am already stoned (opioid crisis) and binge drinks into a stupor within 2 hours. A youth culture that your more likely to get shot than into a fist fight like the old days. A hookup culture that somehow dragged it's ass past AIDS but it's still on peoples minds while sipping a cocktail. Party replaced by individualism beta groupthink and the selfie.
Ear numbing music because nobodies talking and nobody is looking outside their own inbred group.
Chicks out grow "clubs" by their early 20's or when done university.....someone above nailed it gastropubs is the new age with smartphone zombies sitting eating in little groups at little tables putting more debt onto there credit cards.
Also the mid twenties working girls make a bee line for pubs/patio's after work to find a husband. IMO best time for chicks 5pm onward at pubs (have a wingman for pub food/banter talk) and yes the chicks are thinning out basically by 9pm.
Can a guy be a unnoticed "player" at a pub...nope
