Is anyone here familiar with process piping drafting and design? I'm considering taking an accelerated 8 month program at a college in Canada and am wondering what the job market and work is like. It would be something like this one: http://www.sait.ca/programs-and-courses/...fast-track

Since it's more CAD based you're going to have to familiarise yourself with drawing standards, ISO or whatever.
Also terminology like chamfers and so forth.
I have not done CAD in a while but I hope the same CAD package you may use can keep track of each and every pipe and minimise the potential use of an external spreadsheet.

At each pipe junction there are losses but I'm sure there are sheets out there or in the course on determining that if the course goes into that much detail.

The kind of piping work I did was on the job learning to augment my existing skills but if you have absolutely no drafting or engineering background then education of some kind will be needed.

I have no idea about the Canadian piping industry though.
