I didn’t see it posted earlier- it sounds like there is serious effort starting to actually split California up into three states. There’s been talk for years of creating the State of Jefferson in the north, and the dream lives on along the empty farmland and barns along I-5. Looks like Jefferson will get screwed again-

The proposed map is interesting- Bay Area goes to the north, LA goes to California, and San Diego goes to Southern California. Do you think it would take one liberal state and create three liberal states? Congress would never accept that. Can you imagine how much paperwork and administrative work would need to be done if this becomes reality? All the state agencies, the constitution, courts, tax law, pensions, debt...what a nightmare to split into three.

The last time a state split up was when inland Virginia peeled away from Virginia during the Civil War. We may not be heading to Civil War, but will probably be heading towards Civil Divorce of some kind. The other issue is many “conservative” areas are full of liberals (or full of people on some form of social assistance who benefit from liberal policies), and liberal areas have many conservatives or closet conservatives mixed in. You can’t always make a clean break on a map and label all of California as liberal and all of Kansas as conservative.
