Women are more tribal than men, or perhaps simply less capable of suppressing those expressions. It's human nature to assign enemy status to something or someone. A necessary form of catharsis, perhaps.
I'd say it's pre-human biology and the need to quickly identify outsiders as either soulmates or foes.
