OP, I agree it seems like there is an acceleration/congruence of events. But as many others have noted, there may be opportunity in this deemed downfall.
I am not endorsing the man, but look at Putin's rise upon the collapse of a world superpower, the former Soviet Union:
Putin's path: mid-level KGB goon doing CI work in Dresden, East Germany, Chief of Staff to Mayor of Russia's 2d largest city, to the Right Hand man of a drunken Premier (Yeltsin), to the head of the KGB's replacement agency (FSB), into the Kremlin himself.
This was a mid-level operator, from a modest background, without top-shelf credentials/connections, who found a way to win his way to the top. Talk about an asymmetrical response! Had he been left to climb the ranks of the USSR bureaucracy, he would likely be slugging away with another few like-minded tough guys for Deputy Assistant Director of the KGB's HR department or some such crap. Some/many people will respond by drowning in the bottle, etc. (see Russia's alcoholism rate), but some will have a rapid rise to the top.
As LBN said, start winning. Prepare your mind, body, and soul. Determine now that if some catastrophe happens, you will be in a position to not only survive, but thrive.
And if this oft-heralded catastrophe does not happen, well you still get to reap the rewards of being a high-quality man.
