Depends whether you want to live in the very centre or not.

An apartment in the very centre with one bed, one living room can be had for about $400.

You can get an apartment for $200, it will be a studio and probably 10-15 mins walk from very centre.

Utilities are peanuts here, especially now the end of winter is in sight.

You have to be careful with landlords/agents here though, they are mostly scum-bags. Rental agreements aren't worth the paper they're written on. The agencies generally charge one months rent as a fee. Almost everyone I know has had problems with landlords here, including me.
