-Negging works, keep the compliments to a minimum (more than 1 will put their ego in overdrive)

2nd tier Russian might be different from Moscow where I have never tried to game, but I disagree on few things.

Negging is not necessary, except a very soft type delivered as a joke.
Arrogant/overly confident frame especially when it gives out a player in you can hurt you a lot.
