Japan has been rich for a very long time, and their women are still very feminine.
It's a good point, but there are a few differences that are restraining the wealth-induced effect. I'd say the most significant is the immigration limits. The West both has wealth and no immigration limits -- so men pour in. Japan is very restrictive on immigration, so you don't get imbalance effects. Also, just anecdotally, what immigration there is seems more balanced -- I don't think I've ever seen a filipino man there, but I've met many filipino women and sons and daughters of filipino women.
I also don't think a woman can have a good life in Japan unless she is sexually competitive. Go to the red-light districts in Japan and you will see shops which just have walls covered with pictures of women on them. Businessmen in Japan will even go to soaplands as part of business meetings (basically a soapy brothel). They also have a huge porn industry. Some people estimate that 1 in 200 Japanese women have done porn. And look up the discography of a famous Japanese porn star -- really echos the joke "can't go back to mere Penthouse anymore". They commonly have DVD rooms on high streets -- without going to much detail, it's a place where Japanese salarymen go to a booth to 'relieve themselves' with a box of tissues and a DVD. Normal Japanese women have to compete with all those sexual outlets to get attention.
So counterbalancing forces I guess.
