Floki was not impressed by the Christian monks who they raided in the previous seasons. He did not mind killing Christian peaceful monks, but Muslim citizens - nah - we cannot touch them.
This confused the shit out of me too. Unless I'm missing some larger part of the picture it seemed like the writers were injecting their own personal biased spin. Shame on History Channel.
Will still keep watching the show though...
