One "friend" was assassinating my character behind my back (telling my girl about my various infidelities & misdeeds) while at the same time aggrandizing himself & whispering sweet nothings in her ear. She ended up telling me all the shit he was saying so I cut him off.
In college another "friend" stopped speaking to me because he thought I was making a move on a chick he liked. I wasn't, but somehow he got it in his head I was trying to steal her away (even though they weren't dating) as he languished in the friend zone.
