Unless you got a good gig lined up, logistically the DT core even in the west end is no less than 1400 and can go as high as 2800 for a 1 bed. This city doesn't have the economic base to support high paying jobs except in tech, RE, or special niches.
If your an outsider with nothing lined up, you're looking at 30-35K CAD entry level and at least a 30 min commute somewhere. And your likely sharing a place.
