The guys very well might have been that dumb. If she was a druggy, she probably hung around other druggies, these could have been some dropout druggies themselves. Plenty of idiots really are that stupid even in the US. Any police officer who works in inner city ghettos will have loads of stories of truly stupid behavior from both sexes. Who knows, I doubt well ever get the whole story.
Plus, this kind of mob justice happens in poor countries all the time, plenty of videos online of accused theives being beat or burned to death by a mob, even if the accusars aren't women.
