Again, leave it to Trump to respond like an actual human being, talking about how Brussels was a "safe and beautiful city" 20 years ago, and now it's like "an armed camp" -- even before the disgusting attacks today. He speaks about it with evident anger and consternation.

Here is something that not everyone understands: good people like Trump who have had happy successful lives and are not subject to the despicable Year Zero ideology of nihilism love simple everyday normal life in which people just go about their business and enjoy their time out in a coffee shop or on the street; they love how life can be when you don't have bloodthirsty monsters in your midst who want to chop off heads and blow off limbs. So their instinct is to protect this life and keep it safe.

However, the Year Zero cadres that have come to dominate the media and academic elites of today secretly (or sometimes not so secretly) hate life and hate the world as it is -- and they hate the human being because it is the being that has become aware of the truth of "meaninglessness" all the way down the line. So deep in their hearts they delight in the spectacle of terrorism and destruction, because to them it represents truth; they think of normal people just going about their day and enjoying their lives as zombies who are living a lie, pretending that everything is just fine and dandy and distracting themselves with trivial everyday pleasures; but the "migrant" suicide bomber wakes them up from this lying dream and confronts them with the "truth" of death and "meaninglessness" that we all must acknowledge sooner or later.

That is why these people -- some of the worst that have ever lived -- take events like today's in their easiest and most lightsome stride; because they hate life as it is, and they secretly welcome the rude awakening that sudden and "senseless" violence brings. Far from being disturbed or challenged, their ideology is only confirmed by such events. They are ghoulishly content to proclaim to all and sundry that "nothing can be done" and we must simply accept these attacks as an act of nature; in the meantime, we must of course continue welcoming the brown "Others" who are superior to the hated white man because in the childish innocence of their religion, these browns are not yet aware of the eternal truth of "meaninglessness" all the way to the end.

There is always a terrible cognitive dissonance when a good normal man like Trump has to talk to these Year Zero cadres; Trump loves life in a wholesome and uncomplicated way, so he hates terrorist scum; and he assumes that everyone else must feel the same way, that is why he often says, "don't we all want the same things? We all want to be safe, have great families, have a lot of money, right?" But the terrible truth is that we don't all want the same things, because the YZ elites, while not being actually bloodthirsty -- they are too effete for that -- hate life enough that they don't mind a little havoc and destruction now and then, especially if it's at least at some remove from them. Guys like Trump just don't understand it -- and the YZ monsters, in turn, don't understand him because why would anyone have a simple and untroubled love of life when "meaninglessness" is known to be true all the way down the line? They smell that he is not one of them and they fear and hate him for that.

And this is why it would be so good if Trump prevails somehow -- not only or even mostly because of any immediate practical consequences, but because of the terrible demoralization that would induce in the YZ crew; it would be like their Brussels and their Bataclan, times a thousand. Let's hope it can be.
