The title is a touch misleading. The Harvard students weren't the ones positing that whites have some sort of duty to commit suicide. That point was advanced by the students from the University of West Georgia, one of whom (Feliciano) is the main speaker in the video. The Harvard students are on the other side and appear not to agree.
There's a lot of madness in academia these days, and that lack of sense pervades elite schools as well. Delusion runs rampant - a lot of these kids are in island utopias of liberalism (almost literally the most liberal institutions in the most liberal places they could possibly find in the USA) with tons of money, a great pedigree, and the armor of perceived intellectual supremacy and cultural influence. That kind of insulation breeds a kind of progressive mindset that is particularly divorced from reality. They live in a bubble - their institution is a virtual echo chamber, a space where they merely affirm and confirm viewpoints they already hold. They are as dogmatic and irrational as the opposition (conservatives, who usually are described as folks who live far far away in some backward, unfortunate place devoid of anything good and certainly vastly inferior to places like Cambridge where people have "sense") they claim to despise. And the worst thing about their ignorance is that they're entirely unaware of it - they bask in that ignorance, assigning to themselves a sense of moral superiority they never earned. They're guilty of the same crimes (ignorance, lack of awareness, dogmatic demonization of the opposition, maintenance of uninformed opinions, etc) as their opposition, but act as though they are much better.
High test scores are common in these spaces, but common sense is severely lacking. That is life in much of the modern Ivy League (particularly at Harvard, which is arguably the least conservative Ivy).
All that being said, even these kids aren't quite daft or delusional enough to advance a point like this ("white life is wrong" and "affirmative suicide is good"). They've got a lot of nonsensical and uninformed opinions to offer, but they are not stupid enough to consider this kind of thing a valid argument and they do not make it. The kids promoting this foolery represent the University of West Georgia, not Harvard.
