^Yeah, it definitely doesn't happen overnight. The rate of hair growth is about 1-1.25 cm or 1/2 inch per month, so obviously it takes years to have really long hair (depending on your starting point). Sleep and a nutritious diet helps you attain the upper limit of the growth rate. One more reason to stick to a healthy diet, though this should be second nature to anyone here anyway.
