I think that you know deep down that those negatives mean something. Namely:
1. No birthday present
2. Not introducing you to her friends
Seems like she is a bit on the unsure side about the seriousness of the relationship. No birthday present is a huge deal in my book (if you are dating exclusively). Perhaps she has other suitors that her parents are pushing onto her. Or maybe she is doing her experimental phase with you. But red flags are still red flags my friend.
She does sound like a nice girl. If I were you I'd try not to get too attached just yet. Let's always remember not to make excuses for women when they are giving clear signals. Are you pursuing other options? A little distance on your part could be an idea.
