No. If anything it makes the mob burn even hotter: heathens at least have the excuse that they are ignorant of and do not follow the One True Faith, but Official Believers who carry on against the creed commit treason, heresy, turn their backs on former friends.

And in Deen's case, he never actually said he was a feminist - only said he believed in "respecting others' rights and boundaries."
