Did you venture out to Gili T (the island near Lombak)? or Ubud?
I was in Bali this past December and found Ubud great for a more chill scene, like hippy backpacker scene imo, found it easier to mingle and break into sets there rather than Kuta (which always seemed like a ridiculous gaggle-fuck).
Gili T is probably my favorite area/place in the Bali area. It's basically the best location for the easiest ONS, the logistics of it are probably as good as it can get..Tiny island, no cars even on it, loads of bars with live music great energy, every hotel/hostel has a pool and it's all right on the beach.
