Being neither German nor Jewish, I have no vested interest in this trial. He ended up on the side that lost the war and should've expect to be punished somehow, eventually. It's just strange that they let him walk for so long.
Assuming there's no statute of limitation it's perfectly legal and like Paracelsus hinted at, he got to live the prime of live as a free man.
