Regarding the original question, I'll say this. Wherever you are, be there.
It sounds cliche, but one of the biggest time wasters is worrying about where you are not, and men far too often waste hours of their life wishing they were somewhere else, doing something different. Look at the most grounded of men and you'll see they are inside of every moment.
Aim for the freedom to be anwhere, and strive for exciting things, but also teach yourself to be happy, or at least engaged, everywhere.
Life is promised to no one, so do your best to take nothing and no one for granted.
