Well, you are disagreeing with G Trooper who has lived there at least two years. G Trooper, how long have you lived there?
I was there for 8 months.
Never once was I caught in gridlock for an hour on the causeways. I don't even recall what I would consider "traffic" either.
My main girl lives in Wynwood/Edgewater and I probably took the MacArthur Causeway to her house no less than 20 times on Friday and Saturday nights. Never once did I encounter traffic. I can get to her crib in 10-12 minutes.
The Venetian would have had less traffic.
Maybe we are just lucky.
Keep in mind, from your posts, I know you go out early, maybe you are running into rush hour. I never leave the house before 8-9 (which is preferable in Miami).
I mean hell, you can ride a bike from South Beach to Brickell in 30 minutes. Hipsters do that sh*t all the time. At night even.
On top of that, the issue was "logistics" in Brickell. You are still minutes away from Midtown, Design and Wynwood. And walking distance to bars, clubs and restaurants. That spells good logistics in my book.
Also, I have never seen traffic once on the Venetian. Maybe during a Heat Game, Art Basel and a four car pile up.
But yeah, if "traffic problems" keep guys away, all the better.
In the spirit of the thread, you are more likely to run into traffic issues in Montreal in summer, especially during weekends and festivals.

I've been down here 3 and a half years...and since I drive all day long (outside sales), I know where traffic gets nasty.
The only area that really blows to drive in is Kendall...but who goes that way anyway haha.
G,
I noticed you mentioned Midtown...I need to scope that area out, I feel like it might be loaded with some top Miami talent.

I can't speak on Montreal, haven't had the opportunity to visit yet.
For Miami...I would agree that being older does matter. I've seen about a 10% increase in callbacks of new leads since donning more formal attire and growing a beard that makes me look 'older'.
Old feel: Edgy rocker. Did well in LA and Chicago, no one gave a shit about that style in Miami.
Adjusted vibe: sophisticated career type that moonlights as a musician. Better received.
People used to guess my age at 22. Now it's 27. For me that has been a big step forward in this city.
For those unfamiliar with the latin nightlife terms 'gata' and 'lobo', look them up. They describe a good 80% of the kind of people you'll meet once it's dark in Miami. There are certain things all the 'gatas' look for, and there are ways to befriend the so-called 'lobos'. Once you understand that cultural nightlife dynamic Miami becomes much easier to hustle.

Yeah regarding accessibility in Miami hen is spot on. I'm not sure how it is in Montreal. Unless you're ready to drop some coin, there's a good chance you're not getting into the hot spots unless you're willing to wait an hour, and even then it's still a decent chance you're not getting in.
Yeah, I would say Montreal is millions of times easier than Miami as far as accessibility.
Door guys are pretty cool there, unlike Miami where it can be pretty damn hit or miss to put it kindly.
The highest end places on the busiest nights in Montreal are still accessible if you have some "door Game", whereas some Miami doors are un-breachable on certain events and nights.
I am racking my brain and trying to think if I have ever been denied entry in Montreal and I can't think of an instance. I have cut huge lines there "cold".
Exactly. I have never been denied entry in Montreal. Even in primetime venues on big nights. Bouncers are chill up there.
Miami/NYC can be impossible on some nights. Even with contacts. Your connect will literally have to come out and get you. That's just to get in. You still gotta pay. The reason being it's more political in those cities. Like in NYC, I would name drop a promoter who knew one of my acquaintances because he would drop a lot of money on table service on the night those promoters were working. So they already had a history. He took care of those guys so they look out in return. If there's no ROI, then flat out, they are not looking out. Doesn't matter how you dress, look, etc. I've seen immaculate playboys get shut out cold. Only possible exception is if you've got one or more chicks in tow. Even then, you're still paying to get in. That's why I say one strategy is to approach a group of chicks at the end of the line and talk them up a bit and go in as one group.

Miami is a f*cking awesome place to visit as a tourist. Chill on South Beach and party at night.
Nikki Beach (Miami) is probably the best club I have been to in North American. Good mix of Latinas and European women.
That said, I would not want to live in Miami permanently, just vist time-to-time.

I stayed at three different hostels in Miami (Miami Beach International Hostel, Jazz on South Beach and South Beach).
Miami Beach International Hostel - had a lot of hot white women under 26. Good place to party and f*ck around.
South Beach Hostel - Older tourists (over age 25). More chilled. Not as much partying.
Jazz on South Beach - Hot European women. Very hot.
I interacted with a chick from Spain and Canada. I did not f*ck either of them (I am beta), but I had a ton of fun partying with them and chillin on South Beach.
I love the European female tourists in Miami. so many hotties!!

How about another category for any Miami/Montreal experts...if you had to spend the majority of your time and live there, what city takes it?
I'm talking full-time - at max a couple weeks off per year.

I cannot compare Miami and Montreal because I never went to Florida, but I lived for a year in Montreal and I can tell you that there is a fine concentration of pretty women there if you compare it to the rest of the province, and it is more multicultural too. In regions like the Gaspe (where I live) or on the North Shore, choice is not that good.

@G, I'm looking to spend this winter in South Beach and want to rent a furnished apartment with tight logistics for 3 months. Do you recommend airbnb, craigslist, real estate agency?
Is a car necessary down there?
Thanks.

I work by Cavalli now, i've heard you refer it several times. Is it good there for 5 à 7, meeting girls at bars?

G, I was just in Miami Beach for the first time and had dinner at the bar at Prime One Twelve, in large part because of your recommendation (while hearing other people complain about how long they had been waiting despite having a reservation).
Walking back up Ocean Drive, saw a lot of babes but 90% of the other restaurants we saw looked like total rip-off tourist trash. Thanks for the tip and all of the great information you contribute.

What the G said about hostels on the beach is true. They're usually the low quality girls. I lived very close to one of them for awhile and obviously I wasn't impressed. However, if you go for a morning run at like 7am on the beach near South pointe and the bottom of the beach there are usually pro photographers with models out there.
Pro tip: I went to the Hooters in Coral Gables on Coral Way for the first time today. Minus one or two fugs that is a serious collection of talent. I'm going back next weekend, all these girls must be like 18-23.
