Guy at my gym told me that not only is it's okay to do a little bit of light cardio after working out but that its actually amazing for weight loss.
This flies in the face of what I [thought I?] knew. I thought that cardio anywhere near your workout was destructive to your gainzzzzz.
Can anyone help shed some light on this?

I always thought you could do some cardio before lifting with little adverse effect, but that doing it after would hurt gains.
I'm far from being an expert though.

You just have to keep it light otherwise you will go Catabolic. Keep a steady brisk heart rate for 20-30 mins and you will be fine. Cardio at high intensity is actually worse for you in the long run, year your heart will love you for it but it breaks down a lot of other shit on your body long term. A lot of people differ on that point though but as far as gainzzzzz and muscle building you will be okay.
Weight loss is weight loss if your in a deficit you'll be fine. My guess is that people train to hard with weights and then with cardio and never replenish their body enough aside from their body going into a catabolic state. People whom are doing high intensity training like Athletes are eating 5000+ Calories a day. If your in the gym for 2 hours banging out sets and then running a marathon on a treadmill your going to need the same high calorie intakes or else your body will eat away at it's self.

I have come to the conclusion that it's different for everybody, but there's a general consensus. What will kill your gains (cardio wise) is jogging. After two months of jogging I found that my pulling strength overall went completely to shit. I also did not lose any bodyfat.
This is also consistent with my performance in the gym during rugby season. Nearly all of my numbers go down, particularly in the squat and deadlift. I don't think this can be purely attributed to missing workouts either, whenever I just take a break from weightlifting and do absolutely nothing my numbers don't go down as badly.
I recommend giving it a shot for two months and recording your progress. I also recommend doing any kind of cardio that is not jogging. Maybe a long walk or short sprints, or jumping rope.

It's fine to do some light cardio after a weight session.
I used to see a lot of jacked guys in the gym ramp up the incline and keep the speed low so it was like a brisk walk.
The idea of getting it in after your session is that your glycogen stores are depleted, therefore your body will be burning fat stores.
Doing cardio, i.e. more than just a warm up before weights will destroy your lifts.
Ever beat your ass in the gym then go for a jog after and sill surprisingly have a fair amount in the tank? That's because it's easier to activate the nervous and energy systems involved in running as opposed to lifting weights.
Our ancestors were long distance athletes, sometimes stalking their prey over long periods so this makes sense.

people have already gone over the why they do cardio post wo and the theory behind it....the theory behind not doing it, is it shuts down m-tor...I can't remember the pro that said it now but he's a genius, name is escaping me for some reason it'll come to me at some point... described it to me once this way and it's probably the best way to describe it I could think of... think of working out as stepping on the gas towards muscle building...post wo cardio slams the brakes on that...its hard to know how what level of for how long will shut down m-tor but when Im working out its to build muscle not to burn fat, I save my cardio for morning, do it fasted first thing burn fat....workout I want to build muscle and giving m-tor as much time switched on as possible so I space them out. That's the science behind it but real world practical application...you probably if you took it easy on the cardio, low intensity, wouldn't hurt your results much but Ive gotten into the routine of seperating them and dont find it inconvenient so I just work with the science and if you can I recommend it.

Hunger is your body telling you to jack up it's blood sugar levels. You don't experience "real hunger" until two days after you've last eaten.
It really doesn't matter when you eat, so long as you're getting enough calories. The hodge twins only eat in a 4 hour eating window once a day and they're jacked and shredded to shit.
I wouldn't do cardio just because I detest it. I prefer interval training (like sprints with walking as the rest between sprints), kettlebell swings, burpees, whatever.

Really? Does high intensity cardio break down your joints or other organs or what?
