I'm a Paddy (Irish) and not some Muslim fundamentalist....I make an objective comment (I fail to understand your comment on my first post and the high ground you take against Muslims some black Americans are Muslims so was Malcom X not all Muslims are bad people) on my 10 years in Sweden and all the sad stories I have seen. Yes, Sweden takes in alot of asylum seekers, but you only warehouse them and give them no life, its done for a show. In fact some of my Swedish friends agree with me on that fact. I have black american friends here many super educated (Phd in microbiology working in Wales and commutes back to his girlfriend in Sweden once a month) and they have problem finding work even when they can speak Swedish. Actually I had heard that Sweden had racial issues, but in fact my experience was completely to the contrary. People were very, very responsive to me once they opened up. I think the default Swedish disposition can be misinterpreted.

I also talked with every immigrant I could as well (bc I find their experiences interesting and bc I like busting their balls). I actually got very, very positive remarks with regards to racism. I think the whole thing is quite overblown in Sweden. If immigrants in Sweden feel racism, they should avoid most other parts of Europe.

On the other hand, I was in Amsterdam for five days and that country had some major, major issues. Not just with visible minorities but with outsiders in general.

This forum is funny. The entire premise of it is to travel to/live in other countries and bang a lot of women.

I've also noticed that whenever anybody says anything negative about a white country, you get all butthurt and if they say non-whites do well there, you proclaim it's a myth (ie this thread re Ukraine/Sweden, the st Petersburg thread, etc.). You are right, there are those who feel slighted, but most knew there were few better places to be...Canada being one of them in this respect.

It's not that there's anything wrong with mentioning Sweden's immigration or race problems. It's just the way it's done. People take isolated incidents or extremely rare incidents and then blow it out of proportion and bash the entire country for it. I remember a big thread on Russia where people were freaking out about how skinheads would beat you and mug you if you weren't white and that no one should go. And then someone actually looked it up looked it up and it turned out there were only like 700 racist-related incidents in one year... in a country of 100 million.

Anybody who's ever been to a "dangerous" country like Colombia or Brazil has dealt with this. People back home hear a story of a story, or you meet somebody who got robbed one time in one town, and suddenly the whole country's dangerous and racist and you're fucked if you go there.

Some people just have no perspective.
