Many of these have been discussed on this site. With a new year here, I wanted to offer some ideas on self improvement. As Benjamin Franklin Said "Dost thou love life, then do not squander time; for it is the stuff life is made of"
1. Learn a language - I'm learning Spanish and Russian. If you do the free Pimsleur App on your phone....you'll start getting offers from Pimsleur to buy the whole program at big discounts within a few days.
2. Learn an instrument - I am going to get better at guitar this year. I've been messing around learning some stuff here and there for a few years, but I want to improve markedly and get better at fingerpicking on my Taylor. I'm going to buy an electric later in the year.
3. Update wardrobe - get your clothes fitted. I bought some bad ass Italian blazers off Yoox.com ( big discounts) then, brought them to my tailor for further fitting. I have a V shaped torso so this helps. Do this fitting with your shirts and pants too. Well tailored nice clothes will add another point or two to your "looks scale" not to mention the confidence.
4. Workout 3 times a week or more - no elaboration needed here.
5. Approach two or more a day. Think of it nothing more as just asking for advice about something....as if you're asking an old man standing next to you his opinion on something. Then, you can simply let the girl's reaction tell you if she's interested. It's a good mindset to start off with.
6. Travel to a big city a few times a year and explore/approach....especially if you live in a more rural area.
7. Search Trivago or Expedia, get the best prices, and travel overseas to countries where you can practice your new language/ pickup. Perhaps you can arrange some meetups before you travel with dating sites.
8. Read every day if possible. I'm not talking about low brow stuff either. On days when I have free time, I'll often go to my local bookstore, grab a good classics book like 'Plutarch's Lives" or books on Julius Caesar or maybe an interesting novel and hang out and read. I will scan the store periodically and walk around every 20 minutes or so looking for approach opportunities. It's a great way to learn/stimulate your intellect everyday while getting in your daily approaches.
9. Find/search for new friends who are better than your current ones. Unless your current friends are ideal friends, it's good to find people who share your interests, values and are 'cool' in some sense of the word. There are many ways to do this and they're discussed on this forum.
10. Start writing - That is, if you've felt a desire to write or you think you have something in you to offer the world. I like to write in the morning if I have time. Often, I'll wake up with an idea in my head and the coffee really gets it going. I'll write a bit and look at it again a few days later. I'll make some edits and often, it's quite inspirational if I do say so myself. Perhaps one day I'll piece all these vignettes together and have an actual book.
11. Be fearless. Weightlifting and knowledge of the world as well as experience help here. Just being a 'capable' man.
Here's a random fact that puts things in perspective; If you held out a sewing pin at arms length at night and observed the area of sky that the pin head obscured ( obviously a tiny tiny amount) and you could magnify that area of sky many times, you would see that there are thousands of galaxies within that pinhead area of sky. Think about that. We live in a galaxy with millions if not billions of stars. Most likely a good number of these stars also have planets with life just in our galaxy alone. So, there are billions if not more other galaxies in the universe with an untold amount of suns and an untold amount of planets providing life.
Here's a bit of that pinhead from the Hubble telescope: http://wallpaperiz.com/hubble-ultra-deep...ol-hd.html
Now, how daunting is it to talk to that cute girl or try to open a side business now? Hopefully a little less.
There are many other ways to get into self improvement obviously such as learning any new hobby, biking, white water rafting, learning golf, learning to hunt, learning to shoot, learning to fight, etc. Any of these can be substituted for what I have offered above. It's important for a many to self improve and fill his time with those things that, when he reaches an older age, he will not only be a much higher value man because of his self improvement, but he will also have no regrets.
