Take A Look At "Alas, A Blog's" Male Privilege Checklist

I have a post about female privilege on ROK and have been toying with a comprehensive post on female privilege.

As such, I decided to look up the male privilege checklist and see what progressives are talking about.

Consider a few:

Quote:Quote:

1. My odds of being hired for a job, when competing against female applicants, are probably skewed in my favor. The more prestigious the job, the larger the odds are skewed.

Quote:Quote:

29. If I’m not conventionally attractive, the disadvantages are relatively small and easy to ignore.

Yup, handsome dudes are only marginally "privileged" at the expense of ugly dudes.

Quote:Quote:

30. I can be loud with no fear of being called a shrew. I can be aggressive with no fear of being called a bitch.

Being labeled a douchebag, asshole or dickwad carries no social weight.

Quote:Quote:

38. If I have a wife or live-in girlfriend, chances are we’ll divide up household chores so that she does most of the labor, and in particular the most repetitive and unrewarding tasks.

Yeah, because she cares more about keeping up appearances. Further, this rot about "unrewarding" tasks is fucking childish. Shit needs to get done, so do it. Maybe if more women took selfies while scrubbing the toilet we could solve this?

Quote:Quote:

41. Assuming I am heterosexual, magazines, billboards, television, movies, pornography, and virtually all of media is filled with images of scantily-clad women intended to appeal to me sexually. Such images of men exist, but are rarer.

When was the last fucking time you saw a man on the cover of a magazine for women?

Quote:Quote:

44. Complete strangers generally do not walk up to me on the street and tell me to “smile.”

No, they are just far more likely to rob you or murder you if you are a man.

Quote:Quote:

46. I have the privilege of being unaware of my male privilege.

Don't ever go to law school if you think this is a valid argument.

Why would a man believe all this rot in 2014? Here is the author, Barry Deustch:

Like most morons who lurk in this corner of the web -- guys like David "Manboobz" Futrelle, P.Z. Myers and Jeff Fecke -- are all fat, ugly white guys. I get the sense they want to believe in all of this white, male privilege because it allows them to think they are not impotent, that they have autonomy. What ugly fat fuck thinks in-shape, handsome men only have it marginally "better" (the obvious assumption being about attractiveness to the opposite sex).

Take this common photo shared by these types with a rebuttal:

As seen with this cartoon, these types think society indoctrinates boys to become men utterly and completely obsessed with power, clear hierarchies and completely unable to understand what women really want. We are in desperate need of remedial education and moral training in order to be equal to women, who have superior understandings of power, empathy and how society really works. It's all socially constructed, of course.

You can't tell women that men are so privileged at the expense of them, that they are class oppressors and then expect them to engage men as friends and lovers. It is the height of madness to tell women men are socialized to be all these terrible things -- but not all men take to this indoctrination! -- but also fuck them and marry them. It's not working and that is patently obvious.

What do you think of this list?

that guy has no chin, then again I fail to see how men are privileged when pretty much all this society relies on their labor, both physical and non physical. the day I see women doing the heavy work to build things or to mantain/manage/ provide everything maybe I'll change my mind.

What does this even mean?

So I'm privileged because I can only get potentially murdered? Not murdered or raped?

My reaction when I saw his picture?

Sorry, it's my favourite GIF, so I take any opportunity to use it. And that is funny in regards to the female romance novels. Why don't they use this guy on the cover?

Holy shit that guy looks like a cartoon character!

The only possible sexual escape vent for him is p4p (paired with drugs to prevent the hooker from escaping) or getting to his knees and becoming a male feminist in hoping some equally hideous woman will give him pity see.

Such nonsense. Why can't feminists just accept that some things aren't designed to be appealing to them? Moronic.

The sad part is that it took me reading the part about pegging to realize this was satire.

Hah, I am totally not surprised that this guy is not only behind this cartoon, but describes it as "possibly my absolute favorite":

Guys like Barry Douche share a very similar trait with the majority of virulent feminists.

They are not attractive and have few, if any, redeeming traits and must pull the majority down to their level of decrepitude.

Fuck them.

Good example of the contemporary feminist.

First of all, it's not that men don't have to fear violence, she simply doesn't care either way because of her lack of empathy for men. The male is simply a theoretical construct in her neurotic worldview.

But more to the point, women don't have to fear violence, although for whatever reason they are certainly more fearful about every little thing. The author rationalizes this difference by arguing that men are taught this emotional control while women are not.

This argument is wildly implausible on its face, but notice the lack of personal empowerment and autonomy implicit in that idea. Instead of personally taking control of her emotions, this woman is complaining that nobody came into her life and taught her not to be afraid; nobody came into her life and either took control for her or somehow gave her the control she's looking for.

And these are the same people who complain about patriarchy.
