Skinny jeans for men: gay or nay?

Would anyone be Intersted in a denim/jeans data sheet? I've been thinking of writing one.

I was the denim expert when I worked at barneys plus it's still a hobby of mine.

Sure. I see terms all the time in not sure about... raw, "selvedge", hard, etc. Of course, they seem to apply mostly to boutique brands. I don't spend $200 when I buy jeans. Generally I just prefer the fabric to be dark, thick, and unwashed if possible.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Then you haven't been to Europe. I have been trying to buy old school normal jeans for quite some time to no avail.

Skinny is where it's at over here and no one is being labeled as gay wearing them.

My problem with that kind of fashion is that it only looks good on tall guys. If you're of medium height ( i.e. around 1.80 meters) it will make you look frail.

Yes I can confirm that. Here in France almost all fashion-forward guys wear skinny jeans. Its actually hard to find nice looking straight cut jeans.

Try going to Italy. The handsome and often very sexually agressive guys there wear skinny jeans and skin-tight see through shirts. At first I thought these guys were gays but then they were hitting on women like crazy.

I don't think skinny jeans look good on tall guys though. It makes him wayyy too lanky, like a walking stick. Already tall guys need to wear things that visually widen them a bit, especially the legs and shoulders.

Disagree - on a man with good posture, low body fat and broad shoulders, the lanky look can be quite fashionable. It has a rather chic connotation - people with tall elegant bodies are in short supply among the lower classes nearly everywhere you look. This is the typical male model look - a little bit of muscle in the shoulders, arms and chest, but otherwise it's just height, especially long legs, good posture and then a handsome face and interesting well fitting threads. Eg, http://us.suitsupply.com/en_US/suits . If you look at vintage men's fashion drawings, from the likes of Esquire and others, the men are always tall, thin with broad shoulders. This is the archetype of an upper class man.

If you have bad posture, bad style, or a not so handsome face, the results will be worse.

Same counts for men too. Men like the tall woman with toned legs and well-formed ass and boobs. If the legs are good on a women the remaining is also good.

^Yup, that archetype shouts high status on both men and women. Typically, if you grouped girls by height, slightly gangly girls 5'8-9" are the hottest commodity when it comes to status. I'd go taller than that, except at 5'10"+ the incidence of horseface and butch bodies increases dramatically. A beautiful 6'0+ woman can command attention like no other.

Case in point: America's Next Top Model winner, 6'2"

That is an extreme. I was thinking more like this:

A women that is above average height with all the necessary cushions for the pushions.

Those appear to be skinny jeans. I have a pair from H&M that fit very similar to those. There is a bit of stretch in them. They fit very well, and the bottom width isn't too small, so they don't hug your ankles. There is a still a bit of room when I wear boots. The ones that are really tight around the ankles are the ones that look gay.

I'm not talking about what's sexiest, or what makes your dick hardest. I'm talking about what figure screams status, prestige, 'good breeding' the most. The entire goal of haute couture, of high fashion, is making the wearer appear high status - and not 'sexy' per se as many straight men believe.

At the end of the day, wear what compliments your body type and what makes you feel confident. If you're skinny, skinny jeans might work but most guys are too big to wear skinny jeans. Especially guys who are big up top and have chicken legs.

I don't think they're gay necessarily, but it depends on everything else. Also why do you care if a bunch of guys on a forum think something looks gay? If you like it and it looks good on you just buy it and fuck the haters.

In the '60's this is how men dressed, and most of the clothes were what we would consider slim. This was my dads closet. I totally dig this style;

Skinny pants have been a staple for years, especially in rock music. The latest skinny jean trend came from '80's retro kids bringing back what we wore then as rockers;

[Image: megadeth-skinny-jeans-hipster-300x258.jpg]

Baggy clothes became hugely popular in the 1990's. Luckily most people dont still dress like this guy with pleated dockers.

I have a few pair, but they are not skin tight. I too have hockey butt and huge legs and if I buy skinny/slim pants I buy a few sizes up to accommodate, and they look good. They look good for certain looks, but I cant do that look everyday, even though a lot of men do.

Some of this advice is laughable. It's like the blind leading the blind.

You can't classify a denim fit or wash as uniformly gay or lame. What makes it gay/lame is when you choose that size too big or small, opt for the cheaper sloppy looking brand, are unconfident while wearing it, mismatch colors/patterns, etc...

Different skin tones, body types, and tastes make style unique to the individual. That's the beauty of it. The slim/skinny jean absolutely has it's place and is by no means gay.

One thing I'm sure we can all agree on in this thread:

Men wearing distressed jeans with rips/holes in them is weak.

Those are pretty typical skinny jeans. There's no such term as skinny-straight cut, I think you're getting it confused with "slim-straight", which is a very different cut to skinny.

I know you're talking about skinny jeans here, but of course you can say a certain "fit" (although I think you mean cut) or wash of denim is lame. "Dad jeans" are uniformly lame today, so are 90's style jeans.

Quoted for truth. Never buy jeans pre-distressed or with rips in them, screams style illiteracy. Jeans should be distressed naturally with wear, not by factory processes which are obvious and always look bad. If you want to get rips in your jeans, grab a razor and do it yourself, although only legit bohemian or rocker types can really pull that look off without looking like a try hard.

Ripped jean are the shizz! Not to mention they allow air into the ball/dick area.

Ripping jeans yourself often creates a hobo look, not the most stylish thing.

I guess they are more slim cut according to a member here. Skinny is when it sticks on your skin. This jeans still has room and ripples as you can see.

If you lift and have a relatively athletic with lean muscle looking body, women generally like tighter fitting jeans which show off your quads and ass. What looks worse to women is looser fitting jeans which make it look like you've got a bowel movement in the seat of your pants, an error too many men make.

The gayer look is when jeans/pants are close to skin tight down to your ankles. Need a little extra room below the knee. That's when they start looking like women's leggings.

But if you're not lean and athletic, skinny/slim jeans won't look good on you. They highlight your pudgy upper body while making your lower body look like chicken legs. If you're pudgy you've got an uphill battle to fight anyway.

You basically want jeans which show off your quads/ass which is an area women notice quickly. Just do so without looking like a fag.

A nice, tighter fitting pair of jeans with a little room below the knee, a form fitting v-neck tee or polo shirt(solid color) and a nice pair of shoes is great for day game. Have plenty of success with that look from CA to Eastern Europe.

The picture above is an example of what not to wear. Those jeans fit like crap up top. There's no muscle definition. Makes the quads look non-existent. Then, below the knee they're too tight. It should be the opposite. Tighter up top and a bit more room under the knee. Oh, and I've had multiple women say black jeans make a guy look older. If you're going for younger women, don't wear black jeans.

I'm not old so I don't have to worry about looking old. Actually when wearing these black jeans a girl asked me if I lost weight. I think black makes you look leaner, not older. Also about the tightness on the knee. It depends on which model of jeans you choose. One size bigger was too big for me so these are perfect for me. I have jeans from couple of different brands and they all have a different cut and feel. It is impossible for me to be so picky about measurements like you explained. I simple just don't have the interest, time and will to try 20 jeans just to find one perfect one.

No it's not. Most mens skinny jeans are not skin tight. Like I said, all skin tight jeans are skinny and not all skinny jeans are skin tight (i.e skin tight is a subset of skinny). "Skinny" is a technical term for jean cuts set by the brands/manufacturers that includes much roomier cuts then just skin tight ones. Go buy a pair of Levi's skinny jeans (the 510's) for example and check it out for yourself, unless you have quite big legs they are not going to be skin tight.

It's also a misconception that your balls don't have space in a skinny jeans. My new skinnies from Topman have plenty of space (I can expect some jokes now) at the top but are tight at the lower legs. Perfect fit!
