I don't do drugs.

But I'm curious if taking acid changes your outlook on life?

Steve Jobs did acid just once - and he said it changed his life.

So - with that in mind - in what way does taking acid change your outlook on life? Or is it more that you develop an inner calm which makes you less stressed out about day to day life and question the motives of society?

I don't want to be rude about people that take drugs. But I sometimes that people of lesser intelligence are more impressed by drugs than those who have the ability to think deeply.

If you study Transcendental Idealism (ala Kant and Schopenhauer) you come to a lot of the same conclusions that people who take drugs report discovering.

Some of the most intelligent and successful people I have ever met use/used drugs from time to time.... some of them flat out abused them.

These typically aren't the close minded type who work 9-5 until they are 65 though.

In my opinion, it let's you really realize & feel the subjectivity of your reality. I also really understood how everything about us human beings is just chemistry -- how we feel, how we think and how we experience the reality. Of course I knew this beforehand, but didn't really feel it. Really pushed me to focus more on my nutrition, nootropics and other drugs to enhance my perception of my own reality.

Psilocybin mushrooms are far better in my opinion. They cut way deeper and have the emotional aspect. I really understood how women must feel with their fluctuating emotions. If you are a man with good testosterone levels, your emotional state stays pretty stable thorough your days(which allows you to succeed and accomplish) -- you definitely are not experiencing similar emotional breakouts, anxiety, happiness highs etc as women do. But then I took mushrooms, had the highest euphoria I have ever had, then a blink of an eye later I felt the worst I have ever felt: no motivation, sorrow, depressed etc. For a hour or so I didn't even have strength to get up from my bed and nothing mattered anymore, I felt like crying and a little bitch. Although it didn't last for long, I now have greater contrast to everything that happens from now on.

Also, shrooms sometimes let you experience the void of nothingness [Image: tard.gif]

It won't change you unless you let it. If you go in expecting life changing consequences that's what you're probably going to get otherwise enjoy your night you'll be fine

I agree that mushrooms are a much better choice. They're milder, don't last nearly as long (acid lasts for fucking EVER) and have an earthier, more spiritual quality.

Also, it's very rare to get pure LSD-25 any more. The process to synthesize it is complex and requires a good chemist with excellent equipment. You'll likely get a chemical analogue or a completely different compound altogether (2ce or 2cb or some such).

Anyway, to answer OP's question: there are some things you've just got to see for yourself. You can't know about them second-hand. Personal truth comes in this package. Which is why it's so hard for people to communicate to others their profound experiences on psychadelics.

This causes people who haven't had such experiences to write the tripper off. But you can't communicate something that goes beyond language.

I say try it and make up your own mind. Or lose it altogether. ;-)

I've heard some pretty good stories on DMT and it doesn't last long at all. Anybody have any experience with it?

Everybody should try acid at least once.

cardguy what do you consider a drug? Drinking bourbon alter the mind and impair judgment, don't that sound like a drug?

Yeah - I consider drugs to be mind altering.

Whereas things like alcohol I consider to be mood altering.

So - even though alcohol is technically a drug - I don't think of it as one.

This is the common argument I see from people who haven't done psychedelics: they think drugs are for losers and everyone who use drugs are losers, and that these people are only trying to escape the reality and their responsibilities.

Psychedelics couldn't be further from truth. You are welcoming the reality. They are also very common among successful people. Majority of all popular stand up comedians have done drugs. My favorite author Robert Greene used to do shrooms, acid, peyote and everything he could get his hands on. Jobs did acid and look how far he managed to go.

There is a HUGE difference between THINKING something and EXPERIENCING something.

With psychedelics you experience it. No matter how much you THINK about truths/reality/etc through rationality and can even come to the same conclusions, it's not the same as experiencing it.

So I concur, huge difference. It's like comparing porn to sex.

Cardguy, psychedelics are perfect for you. You seem to think too much. You should experience things instead.

I am not hating on people who take drugs. I think it is pretty cool (and quite brave) that people are prepared to experiment like that on themselves.

I ate a bunch of weed one time - and didn't enjoy the 12 hour trip that resulted from it. So - I don't think it is a scene for me.

That's pretty dumb. You have to learn to swim before you throw yourself
in the deep end.

You start off with a drag before you eat a bag.

Alcohol is a drug, the difference is that alcohol is socially acceptable and mushrooms and acid, etc., aren't. Marijuana is becoming socially acceptable over time.

Generally, drugs can help you think about things in a different light. In that regard, they're invaluable and I highly recommend them to anyone who is ready. Just make sure that you are in a healthy, grounded place. Eat right and get enough sleep. Be prepared to devote an entire afternoon and evening to just experiencing a trip. Clear your schedule and your mind and if you don't like it (if you have a bad trip, for example), you'll have done your pre-game well enough that you'll survive very easily.

Acid, etc., just helps you realize certain things. It's definitely worth trying. The dynamics of certain relationships that are important in your life will become clearer - in that sense, taking drugs is somewhat feminine.

I tripped in the park on acid early last summer with people who cared about me - so I was in a very safe place. I hallucinated and started thinking about this one bitch in my life, and saw possibilities between her and I that I hadn't seen before, about our individual roles in society and how those roles, taken together, could be compatible. It was a good trip and a wonderful afternoon in the park with my friends.

What interpersonal dynamics in your life are you not seeing?

I highly recommend acid.

totally agree it makes you see relationships in a different light - sometimes good and sometimes bad.

That's really interesting what you experienced in the park...what ended up happening between you two?

It's a work in progress Monster, she's since broken up with her boyfriend (and I with the girl that I was seeing then). There's definitely something between us. We see each other most weeks. If I ever really want to pursue it, I'd have to tread carefully as she's probably looking for her LTR.

through psychedelics, i affirmed my obsessive compulsive nature.
these 6-8 hour experiences will drain you of a lot of emotional energy and reveal your suppressed baggage.

it will certainly open your eyes to shit.
i feel that it has made me stupid.
i am horrible at retaining information.

i'm twenty-three and have experimented extensively.

i don't like to do them anymore for they brought me over the edge last time.

Weed is most beneficial in its ability to have short altered mental states and continuously dose if you want to maintain the high.

It was my preferred drug for many years because I felt that it brought me to an objective mind state. Due to that, I could be honest with myself; forcing realization about my successes, failures and limitations of the time.

I realize that most people treat taking weed as if it's like another form of alcohol, but smoking alone or with the right people gave me a far deeper experience.

Exactly. Alcohol is a drug. Each drug is its own unique experience. Alcohol doesn't allow you to have soulful, mind-expanding experience like marijuana or acid. But alcohol can be great for feeling more social. Different drugs, different experiences.

Yep that's all it comes down to in the end. Picking a good crowd is still always important in an altered mindset
