As for why it goes on, I blame lack of formality. Years ago there was Adult World and Kid World and the twain never met. IMO, it's a combination of this and the fact that there are zero consequences, particularly if she has tenure. Fewer people will judge this type of transgression as serious compared to a male teacher and even if they did, it'd be damn near impossible to fire her for it anyway.

K-12 is such a feminized environment that it drives away any man with a backbone that would have considered teaching as a career. So the only alphas in the school are the students who DGAF.

I think it's partly due to lack of fear of the consequences:

when a female teacher is in her 20s, she is not long out of university and is used to the college fuckfest mentality... in her hamster mind there probably isn't a lot of difference between getting a good dicking from a 19yo freshman to one of her younger students. In america yes, In Canada its amazing job if you can handle the kids. $80k for 9 months work + pension and benefits. I could not handle the kids, or the other teachers.

I have personally witnessed this a number of times.

It isn't so much about "alpha" and "beta".

It's usually more about access, proximity, and time spent together.

It's probably a lot easier these days too with texts, FB, twitter, et al to have contact away from school.

Back when I was in school it was very rare to have any sort of contact with a teacher away from the school grounds. Ms. Hotpants wasn't going to call your house and get past your parents to talk to you.
