I would recommend you do NOT do it. A very good chance of this being a losing investment.

You can only lose 100% of your investment but you can make 1000% or more. Put a couple hundred in and learn the ropes. It's worth it for the experience and entertainment alone.

That's a nice way of putting it. I've signed up to Mt.Gox just waiting for verification

If this thing is really gonna take off, its gonna be a lot bigger.

Max numbers of bitcoin will be 21 000 000. That's one bitcoin each in a "small" country like Madagaskar.

Looking at it from an international population of 7 000 000 000. Evenly distributed, 0.0035 BTC is the average a human can have.

If you buy one BTC you will be 285x richer than the average, if they were evenly distributed.

There were probably someone who said "its to late" about cashing in on the internet boom in 1996 as well.

I would have bought one bitcoin just in case.

So where do you think it will end up at?

Why would you think of it X amount of but coins per country? They freely flow across borders and are divisible.

Just a thought experiment to see that one coin is not as little as it sounds.

People think of "one" of anything to be small.

One BTC for 200USD?! Fuck no!

100 million satoshi(smallest unit in a bitcoin) for 200USD?! bring'em on!

elmech; My guess is as bad as anyone else. But I will be surprised if we see bitcoins in the range og 10USD-1000USD five years from now.

I'm going for Canadian based Virtex and Vault of Satoshi so I can do a bank transfer.

Should I be going for BTC-E instead?

i don't get this... it's total speculation. What can you even buy with BTCs? The currency is too unstable for any firms to be willing to use it for transactions. And with other digital currencies out there, the supply is not 21 mill BTC, but 21 mill BTC + 84 mill LTC + any crap that any geek decides to invent.

A year from now you'll wish you started today

I guess you can buy a ton of drugs and sell them.

Or some other product and sell it

The thing is, will people actually spend the things or are they just sitting on them for speculation purposes?

Did some fast math..

If your tag cost 1500 on may 5th BTC was around 120 if you bought then you'd have 5,500 today.
