Looks like I'm headed to Vegas in 2 weeks for work. They've got me there Tuesday - Friday, then on the 8am flight out on Saturday. I'm staying in the Mirage.

I read the ROK post on Vegas and I'll certainly dress the part, but I can't be hitting the club scene and then waking up at 8am the next day to put in a full day of work. Any suggestions for evening (5pm-10pm) places? I'm guessing that means bars, so what's good for someone traveling solo?

Last time I was in Vegas was 5 years ago and was with a coworker so never had any free time to explore as we were working all day then had evening meetings.

You're really complaining about bottle service at clubs? Yeah it can be annoying, but what did you expect? What clubs are you going to in your town? Club TGI Fridays? You're mad about businesses trying to make money? You're in a resort town, what so you expect? At least drinks aren't $23 like Miami. And Vegas was hot in June? Shocker! Went to the desert, but no beach?! What a travesty! You could have driven 25 minutes and hit up lake mead, but shocking enough, people usually dont go to vegas for the beach, they go to have fun at all those overpriced clubs with bottle service and hot girls. Geese, sounds like such a drag. BTW, the "OC" isn't Ocean County, it's Orange County. I stopped reading about half way through because I couldn't stand cringing any more. You're complaining about spending all this money and you're from NYC. I spent $1500 in NYC in 4 days. I got a pizza that cost me $55! You even complained about not having to stand in line! and the club wasnt packed at 10:15? you mean in Vegas? A 24 hour city? You've got to be kidding right? Rookie mistake on your part for showing up at 10:15. Also, if you're not swooping in Vegas, it's not the city, it's you. Vegas has to be one of the easiest cities around. As far as being swarmed by hookers, I've only had one hooker ever approach me in Vegas and have been to the strip more times than I could count. Maybe you're putting off the wrong vibe bro. Just eat at restaurants with decent bars attached to them. Eat at the bar, probably groups of 2-3 girls there for HH or early drinks. Most "bars/lounges" will be dead as hell around that time except for the casino bars...the Wynn/Encore has the best ones probably.

I like Lavo. They have a happy hour. The bar at Bouchon is good too but more sophisticated, but you might meet other people there travelling on biz. If you have a dope expense account, do the tasting menu at L'Atelier Joel Robuchon...really cool experience eating at the bar (not a social spot though).

or hang at the Cosmo the whole time, that place always has girls there no matter the time. The restaurants are probably not as condusive to solo dining though, but the chandellier or the bond bar should be good. However its a bit far, it'll be easier inside your hotel. I didn't like the Revolution Bar..the bar outside of it was decent though. The bar on the moving sidewalk on the way to Cesars isn't a bad option either (looked it up, its called RHUMBAR).

Another option is to go next door in the Treasure Island, the Senoir Frogs or Margaritaville MAY have some visiting tourist girls getting wasted fast...same with the Carnival thing at Harrahs across the street. They will probably be more normal girls, but I've swooped daytime at that Mardi Gras outdoor patio place when i was solo (N.B. everything in this last paragraph is EXTREMELY cheesy/touristy though.

I've tried to resist posting in this thread but I have to give my two cents. I firmly believe Vegas is the easiest city in the world to get laid, at a minimum in the US. And while a high bankroll will help it is absolutely not necessary.

First the flight is a sunk cost. You are going on vacation and can't really bitch about it. If I want to go to NYC from LA I have to pay for it. Sure it's cheaper for me to go to Vegas, but it's cheaper for east coasters to go to Miami or Europe. Deal with it.

Next lodging. You don't need to stay at Bellagio or Cosmopolitan or Wynn. Get a room on the strip at mirage, TI, planet hollywood, venetian, palazzo, Monte Carlo even. Just avoid the ghetto hotels like Excalibur or Luxor or ballys maybe. Search around and you can find a room for 150 or less. You can also use Priceline sometimes if you do your research on how to do it properly.

Now when you check in be incredibly nice to the person and put a 20 between your cc and ID. When you hand them this stack, ask if they have any upgrades on the room. They know what's up and more than likely you will get a better room for your entire stay for an extra $20.

Stay 2-3 persons to a room. Don't be with idiots and make sure your buddies will stay out of the room if you bring a girl back. Make sure to have a system in place. I've brought a girl back, banged her, then took her to McDonald's so my buddy can come in and bang the girl he met. Then we went back upstairs and all passed out. You don't need your own room, just cool friends.

For night, lets go with two strategies depending on bankroll.

Higher: start the night at a good restaurant and enjoy Vegas fine dining. Then with your buddies get a table at a club without a big DJ so you have party sluts there not Asians in love with Deadmau5 or whoever else. There are a million promoters in Vegas finding a good one is not hard. Expect 200-300 per person and you walk in and have a table. See below on how to game girls in Vegas. Just be aggressive and suit up.

Lower: I will go into more detail here because of the myth that you need to drop tons of cash to have a good night. One hack into getting into a club easily is to eat at a restaurant connected to the club. When Moon was one of the better clubs, we used to eat at nine steakhouse at the palms. Spend about 80-100 each and then ask to speak to the manager to help us for the club. We would then get comped and walked into moon or ghostbar after our meal. So we just had an awesome steak dinner and club entry VIP no wait for 80-100.

Ok so you want to spend less. Get a sandwich for dinner, 5-10 bucks. Predrink in your room with alcohol you have bought previously. Around 11-1130 pm make a roadie as you can drink anywhere in Vegas and head to your club of choice. Personally I'd avoid XS or other name clubs and go where Alyssa the 21yo college girl from Ohio may go to party with her friends! Get to the club and speak nicely to a few bouncers about taking care of them if they help you get in. Be in a fucking suit!! I've gotten 3 of us in for 80 total before. First bouncer said no, second said 200, third said 80. Bingo.

Not a fan of clubs? There are several hotel bars that you can just post up at. I've pulled girls from bellagios lily lounge and other places. No cover, but some expensive drinks. So bring your own! Cosmo chandelier bar is great, it's Vegas there are sluts everywhere.

Want the tip of the year? Go hang inside the bars by the male strip clubs. You will never have a higher concentration of hornier girls. And the ratio will be about 100-1. And if you are built just say you are one of the dancers. I'm not even close to muscular and I had girls throwing their number at me and clawing at me. You spend zero dollars here.

Ok you want to go to a strip club. NEVER pay any cover to get in. Spearmint Rhino in Vegas in my eyes is unmatched and if you call them directly they will send you a limo for free. Tip the driver 10/head and the bouncer who seats you 10/head and you have just entered the best strip club in Vegas for free and via limo for 20 total. And who says you can't touch girls there? Finger, grab breasts, her demolishing your dick, all fair game.

I have seen guys fail a lot. And it's because of their viewpoint or stubbornness that they fail. Even my own friends who refuse to accept what Vegas is. First, you have to dress up. Suit is mandatory in my eyes. Girls here are on hyper ADD they will gravitate towards the nicest things, and a man in a suit is one of them. Next be direct and aggressive. They are not here to meet a boyfriend. Ever notice how many heels and slutty dresses you see in Vegas? The girls here even if they are the biggest lawyer cunt in DC are here to be objectified. So objectify the shit out of them. Tell them they are sexy, tell them you want to fuck them, slam them against the club wall and press your thigh in their freshly manicured cunts. Don't be a pervert and pinch their asses while walking by but be that confident asshole that is there just to fuck them.

There's a huge difference between wearing an untucked dress shirt and khakis and hollering at girl in the casino "hey what's up hot thing?!" and being suited up with pocket square and tie, making eye contact with a girl smiling extending your right hand until she places her hand in it, then slowly moving her against a wall telling her she's cute then grabbing her head and making out with her within 30 seconds. It works I've done it.

Vegas is better with more money but it's not necessary. And no place has a higher concentration of girls just wanting to get fucked. Literally they want to just get drilled. The whole city is based on what happens there stays there...essentially a social scapegoat for sluttiness.

So suit up, man up and enjoy one of the greatest artificially created fantasy lands in the world.

Re: suiting up- I've noticed that some people at the high end clubs are getting way too "suited up"...generally they are large groups of asian males wearing almost exactly the same thing...the strategically loosened tie, the entire group rocking bow ties or something like that. because you don't want to be grouped in with them (they always seem to be dancing with each other in those wolfpacks). Once a girl thought one of the guys we were with was a busboy because he was wearing a black vest and slacks. although when I used to rock ties, girls would ALWAYS grab them and play with them.

I always wear jeans and a button up and I do fine. maybe i'll suit up next time and see how different results are.

Here's a tip on how to get in free and cut the line, possibly even a free drink. I used to do this when I was younger, probably wouldn't do it now as I probably wouldn't need to, but....

If you're only rolling with a group of 2 or 3, meet up with a promoter on the strip and ask him if he'll get you in free if you bring a bunch of girls. He will because this is how he gets paid (though the girls can't be scrubs. Not all of them have to look good, but at least half do, and if there's no other way around it, only let one fatty be in the group max!). Cruise the strip to find a group of clueless girls from zanesville, OH and tell them you'll get them in the club free. Chances are they will already get in free, but they don't know that. Bam! You now have 2 girls to one guy and you just cut the line and got in free. If you meet a cool promoter you may even get comped a drink, plus you just rolled with 6 girls and you have options. I've done it a couple times.

I hate Vegas, but from an outsider standpoint, this thread is a pretty money guide on how to do Vegas the right way.

In Captain's defense, I can see why this trip went sour. Going on a destination bachelor party with a group of eight headstrong NYC cats can be a harrowing experience. For better or worse, it's very hard to convince a group of New Yorkers to open their mind and do things that they wouldn't normally do in NYC. If I went on a bachelor party to Vegas with my NYC guys, they'd laugh in my face when I said, lets throw on some suits, pocket squares and do Vegas the right way. We suited up one night, rolled in well fitted designer polo shirts/tshirts the other nights and we had much more luck when not suited up. Not nearly as fun. Academic conference, though I'm on the corporate side. Most of these are 60%+ female ratio so that's good, but I think this one will draw more the older professor types. At some of these I go to, you get a lot of grad students and official conference happy hours every evening = good times (and intelligent conversation to boot), but I don't think this one will draw that kind of crowd.. and the organizers have not set up any evening social events.

Actually I've found at academic conferences, the social events, especially when drinks are free, can be quite the place. The grad students swarm it because they swarm any offer of free food and drink. Also for many of them, they just don't get out much since they're in their labs working all the time, so they really let loose. A conference attendees-only event means you've already validated yourself and no one puts their guard up. The easiest opener is to just ask about someone's research and let them blab on about whatever nonsense it is.

The big risk is that the communities can be small, so it's important to be careful about burning any bridges or developing a reputation, since you'll probably see some of the same people again at the next conference.

I remember reading somewhere that some huge % of marital infidelity occurs while people are on business trips (especially conventions), and I can see why. Party atmosphere, everyone staying in the same hotel, free drinks at many events, etc.
