From reading threads like this, I've concluded that men appreciate muscles and style far more then women.

Caligula gave me a link to this in another thread. What are everyone's thoughts? I say you have to try A LOT harder in America if you're naturally skinny.

Roosh also has a good video discussing this.

There's girls out there that like all types of guys, but I would say that a moderate amount of muscle, combined with a low body fat percentage, will appeal to the largest base of women (eg. Brad Pitt in Fight Club, Diego Forlan etc)

That said, In my circles I never see the 8+ women with some buffed up guy. Much more likely to see them with either skinny indie types, DJs and rockstars, or skinny fashion models.

Regarding being really muscular, the guys I know that are really big and ripped get pussy thrown at them in mainstream bars / clubs, but they are all the trashy fake tan and makeup type girls.

I think that whether you go skinny, medium or muscular, it's best to be very lean (not skinny fat, and not muscly and fat). Being lean makes even small muscles look impressive (see guys like Diego Forlan, who only has a small amount of muscle, but who most girls would probably find ideal). And even fairly moderate amounts of body fat (say around 12-15%) can make the hip area look pear shaped and feminine (this can be even more noticeable if guys are squatting and deadlifting).

One other point. For me at least, when I work really hard on achieving a goal (whether it be about sport, fitness, language ability, etc), I can get a bit obsessive. I find this really hurts me with women, even though I am actually better objectively. For example, when I'm training really seriously for boxing, I tend to be a bit anal about getting my next protein serving, my 8 hours of sleep, and it all just generally throws me into a future time oriented mindset, and it seems to get much harder to be in that don't give a fuck, irreverent state that gets the girls. The times in my life that I have done the best with women, are the times when I was on 3-4 month binges of going out drinking all the time, and allowing everything else in my life to fall apart. Obviously a balance is the key, but it can be hard.

Not sure if I already posted on this thread, but ofcourse muscles matter in the game. The question is how much they matter, and that is not clear cut, black and white when it comes to women and attraction. The most important thing is don't be fat, and don't be frail, it's pretty much that simple. Now, there is a difference between skinny and frail, skinny guys can still look "normal", sometimes they can look cut, which is attractive to women, frail guys on the other side look like they've just come out of some kind of internment camp. No women wants a man who looks utterly weak, and will get blown over if a strong breeze blows through. Women like men who are strong, dominant, and can protect them. Why do you think women like tall guys so much, because they are better at basketball?

Now the thing with women is they tend to have a less specific universal type then men do. Sure women like tall, buff, handsome guys, but typically they can have a wider range of guys they like, hipsterish, hippy, artistic chicks will like skinny yoga type guys, while some chicks dig the athletic lean swimmer look, while other chicks will like buffed up, huge meat head, jock, thug types. Different strokes for different chicks.

However the reality is women overall prefer more muscular men, but even within this reality it can swing different ways, some chicks prefer the guy who is shredded as hell with a 6-pack, while others may prefer the guy who doesn't have a six pack, but a huge back, chest, arms, that looks like a burly bouncer type.

A lot of this depends on the size of the woman herself, the skinnier she is, the more down she'll be with a thin dude, if she's thicker with huge ass and tits, and a little meat, she's going to want a bigger, bulkier, more muscled out guy, typically speaking.

The point is it's good to be in shape, most guys never will get huge, and if they do it's due to having one of the three X factors (amazing genetics, steroids, or 3 + consisted years of hard work with the right diet). I don't have the right genetics, I don't use steroids, so I continue to slave away in the gym. It's okay though, because I genuinely enjoy working out, and as opposed to the past where I used to lift to get bigger for women, I currently lift more for myself. I know that being buff is just an added bonus, but it's not getting me laid in and of itself. Guys who get really buff with the expectation that women will just throw their pussies at them are in for a good bit of disappointment.

I tell you I'm ready to start trying getting (judiciously) juiced if it will do 1/2 or 1/3 of the work for me. I'm 50 anyway, why not make the few good years left jacked ones.

Yeah almost, haha.

If you get on the juice get bloodwork before, during, after, and keep a detailed log for the benefit of the forum.

I pulled the most women in my life when i weighed 160lbs and had 6% bodyfat. I was doing a lot of high intensity work outs just for the heck of it.

I'm 6ft tall.

Now i weigh 175lbs at 10% body fat. I look buffer, but the bodyfat % is what is limiting my ability.

I'm trying to get to 200 lbs and hopefully with 6% bodyfat. That much muscle will take me a year to accomplish. I just want to be bigger than most guys out there.

Women are a side venture in this endeavor.

But yeah, you need to know your type. I will say though muscle is universally attractive. Muscles to women are like big boobs to a man. They help get the foot in the door but that's the extent. If you have it yay, if not than it doesn't matter if you're still friendly.

Are you an Ecto?

For the two dudes before me, yes i am an ecto although i believe my ectoness was made worse by a piss poor diet. I definitely was not consuming enough calories to maintain anything during college. I've started to keep weight a little better now that i'm out of college and eating more effectively.

JayD, when i was a senior i had a trainer friend who asked me if i wanted to cut or bulk. I said cut (stupidly) and proceeded to get mad skinny. For me, if i want to cut i just need to incorporate more cardio and cut out whole milk from my diet.

Senior year though, damn it was great. I never thought i could get that much poon. Literally, i would just stand around and the girls would come to me. Don't be skinny ripped though, just get a good physique.

Is anyone on RVF really thin and very successful?

I think being skinny definitely holds you back.

I'm thin and fairly successful. I'm sure it would be a different world if I was bigger or average American guy build with no muscle but who's "big" because of food.

So about 50% of your weight gain was fat. Is that around normal when people bulk at a fast rate? I'm not trying to be critical or anything, I'm very interested in this kind of thing and rarely see people give numbers (usually they say they gained a few pounds of fat too or something like that).

Yeah, I'm thirty now and often have people mistake me for being early twenties. Hopefully I'll be one of these Pharrell types that looks late twenties at forty.

I'm not sure what you mean.

You'll always put on fat when you bulk. Do I look like an overweight blob? No, but I don't have any type of muscle definition outside of just being big. The word I think for it is athletic fat. It's not that bad and you'll still get attention from chicks.

What is interesting is what i'll look like when i start cutting in May. That will be fun.

What I mean is that if you were 160 at 6%, and have gone up to 175 at 10%, then approx half of the weight you've gained is fat. I know 10% bodyfat is not fat at all, I'm just interested in how much fat people tend to gain when bulking up, in case I want to experiment with going up a weight class.

I was 145-150 lbs with 6% body fat, now a year and a half later im at 185-190 lbs 10-13% body fat. It is my first bulk ever and will do things differently next time around...In the process of cutting.

So I am pretty thin. 127 pounds 5'11. I havent really been able to lift all my life becuase of bad scoliosis. Developed my look around it. I may be one of those "hip" skinny guys you guys were talking about earlier. Anyways, started lifting like 3 months ago but slowly becuase I have to develop muscles that I've substituted for years and I need an hour of stretching per work out. Should be able to knock out my pain from scoliosis soon though (its been 4 years of pain). Gained 5 pounds of muscle this far(my average weight was 122 a few months ago). It feels much better. Seen a noticable change in girls attitudes and thats only 5 pounds in. I dont want to get big though. Just really defined. I plan stopping bulking when I hit 140 because then my clothes won'f fit and it wouldn't suit my personality/image. Any advice?
