Power_Ranger, come to Manchester, the city is way more Red than Blue. It is to be expected though, as when you're a kid growing up here, it's much more likely you're going to support the more successful team.

Yeah Matt, I agree. The person I get most irritated by is Olly Murs, I hate his face, and when he bangs on about Man U, it just irritates me. My Dad's side of the family are from Leicester, so I was buzzing when they got into the playoffs. I think they'll miss out this year, but I like supporting them as it gives me a bit of cred as a fan of a lower league team, as United and Alex Ferguson are supreme! [Image: wink.gif]

On a serious, I do worry for United when SAF retires, as there will be a shit period when they are in transition. For rival fans, I suppose it is fascinating what will happen. They make huge amounts off-field, and the Glazers are actually doing a good job as they stay out of affairs, but I doubt they'd be so 'behind the scenes' with anyone but SAF.

Canadian Football (CFL) is much more fast paced and entertaining than American football (NFL) in terms of watching. The NFL is too boring to watch on television (live is different, live is fun). It doesn't help that on TV the NFL is super commercialized.

Please, all the hacks that can't make it into the NFL go to the CFL. The talent is way better in the NFL. You guys get all the second class players that don't make the cut for the NFL.

Yes because that is where all the money and attention is. Who would be stupid to chose to play in CFL instead of the NFL.

My original comment was the fact that the CFL is faster paced and more entertaining to watch on tv, when you watch NFL on tv more than 50% of it is
A) Ads
B) "Analysts" talking
For the time investment there is very little action involved.

Now watching the game live in a stadium atmosphere is amazing, and blows watching the CFL live out of the water.

I've been to two Seahawks game, and if there is a game on whenever I'm in Seattle I make sure to attend.

You failed to properly read that I never said the CFL was better than the NFL, only that I find the CFL more entertaining to watch on TV due to its nature being faster pace, I never mentioned the quality of the players yet you still chose to jump to conclusions and start an argument in a thread called "Unpopular opinions", which mine surely is. Anyways IP you're the first whos going on my ignore list for being one of the on the forum. Shame because a lot of your game posts (except for that whole jailbait moral high ground you took) and data on cities is top notch and, like the CFL, entertaining.

This article highlights the problems I have with watching NFL games on TV.

I guess to respond, even though he won't see, for everyone else to have my take. I guess I should have elaborated a little more. While it's possible the CFL will be more fast paced, I don't see how it could be more entertaining when the level of talent is so much higher in the NFL. Maybe you get 2 plays in CFL to 1 play in NFL, the play in the NFL is going to typically be much more explosive than the two of the CFL.

This is the first ignore I'm aware of [Image: boring.gif]

I also prefer CFL over NFL. Yes, I'm from Canada, which would make you think that it is because I'm Canadian. But anyone who knows anything about the sport knows that NFL players are superior to CFL players. I think what Scotian is getting at it is CFL is more exciting than NFL like college basketball is more exciting than the NBA. Or, for us Canadians, how Junior hockey is sometimes more exciting to watch than the NHL. Of course the skill level is not the same, but the game may be more exciting because sometimes more mistakes happen, which may lead to big plays, and because you don't get all the other bullshit like commercials and retarded commentary. It's just more enjoyable to watch.

Like I said, I have no problem with the NFL outside of TV watching, leading to me preferring to watch the CFL on tv over the NFL.
The NFL is an incredibly amazing sport with great talent, which I enjoy watching live at the stadium in an awesome atmosphere (tailgating too helps). The problem is as I've mention previously is that for the TV time investment of several hours you get only a few minutes of true action as most of the programming is dedicated to replays, "analysts" and commercials, which makes it more of a time sink for me rather than an enjoyable viewing experience. I mention how the CFL is only more entertaining due to the fact that the tv experience is more entertaining with faster plays (thanks to rules) and less commercialization, although with its shift to tsn in the past few years there has been more analyst commentary and more commercials.

I don't comment too much on the game and the talent the NFL has on being less entertaining, just commenting on how for an overall viewing at home experience, I find the CFL to be more entertaining due to a variety of factors. Although I do find the suggestion that more talent = more entertaining to be flawed logic, as you can still have High School, College and Minor league events to still be entertaining, whether on TV or live in person.

I don't think homosexuality is a biological concept at all... Why haven't scientists been able to prove definitive differences? Why is homosexuality only endemic to western societies of modern humans? Yes, I'll say it even if its unpopular in modern liberal America, homosexuality is a psycho-social concept - something happened, abuse, trauma, just overall environmental differences shape some individuals differently

Not arsed if NFL is more athletic than football or whatever, I enjoy watching football and have done since I was young and will continue watching it no matter if Kobe Bryant scores 91 points in a game or Blue Mountain State win the Super Bowl. I also watch Rugby and people rupture testicles in scrums and tackles. These are European sports though so I don't see why any Americans need to like them, just like the rest of the world does not like your sports bar the Japs/Colombians/Pinos.

I take pride that as a Brit my favourite sports were all started here in the UK - Boxing, Football, Cricket, Rugby Union/League

However there's not much pride in being a Brit these days, the country is eating itself from the inside out.

Not true, homosexuality occurs in other animals too.

I appreciate the strategy that goes into NFL football -- To me CFL is bush league and I am Canadian.

Why?

Because in the NFL you legitimately get instances in which to teams go at each other and the best play leads to a score. In the CFL you get more scoring and more "big plays" but if you sit down and break them apart you realize these plays are 90% caused by blown assignments and streaky flukes. The spacing and style of the game takes away from actual skill, all you need is speed in the CFL -- skill is second. The NFL is trying to mimic this (to an extent) by operating more wide formations and off-shots like the 'wildcat'. To me NCAA Football is what the CFL would be if it had more discipline in its play calling and style. The skill in the CFL is way better but the style of NCAA Football is superior.

CFL Football is more fun to play, you get more space to bash the shit out of people and you get more freedom to set up your play if your on offence. Playing it is more fun but for me, watching it is a joke to me as I can't stand the stuff, its fun live though and IMO its more exciting seeing a CFL game live then a NFL game but for TV and enjoyment NFL all day.

I like seeing things develop in sport. Strategy is important and I like seeing the best plan and execution win.

But I agree with the Jr Hockey comparison you are going to get some of the best hockey in Canada's Jr league. Way better then the AHL,or NCAA College and most NHL match ups on some nights.

My unpopular belief or whatnot is similar:

I don't think that there as many people that are "born that way" as a lot of them claim. I think they just gave up on women and decided to be gay to fufill their sexual needs.

I had a really good friend in Junior high school and high school, and he was in LOVE with this one girl for YEARS, I knoew it, She knew it, everyone knew it, but she trated him like crap and basically ignored him. This went on through to high school, and I don't know what happened between those two but something did, and he just decided to give up on women. Around the same time he met this 100% gay dude that pretty much turned him out. Thing was, that dude is someone I knew when I was in junior high as well. ...

That dude wasn't gay then BUT his parents dressed him so badly that he was teased to death EVERY SINGLE DAY, I mean like traumatically teasing and bullying and being mean as hell, those kids were crule to him. he probably just gave up on women too/had some turning experience.

The next time I saw him he was the "partner" of my old friend, and the dude was 100000% flaming gay. he showed NONE of that when I knew him before. Also eventually my friend that got truned out started acting just like him, all flamey and shit. Which he had NONE of that before.

So yeah I mean maybe there are some people that ARE acutually born that way, that is probably an extreme low number. I'm pretty sure that they picked it up from somewhere else, and/or just decided to give up on women in the realm of sex/relationships.

Ive noticed that a lot of the gay population pops up in first world conutries, where a lot of th emen have been emasculated or on the road to be. Japan is a hotbed of that shit as well.

Poor/higher women ratio/less feminism/etc etc countries except for when its part of their culture for some odd reason (thai ladyboys) usually don't have this type of behavior.

The US university/college system is a capitalistic, money-making enterprise. These institutions have every right to run this business model.

However, I believe universities should be required to conduct a statistical analysis on every single major as to the likelihood of employment upon graduation and the wage one could expect.

Some universities do this, others don't. Many sugarcoat their entire performance by presenting "success stories" from recent STEM graduates. I think this should required even for the damn English major with a concentration in Middle English poetry.

Why? I think some potential students would avoid a useless degree if they were presented clear facts that their degree will lead to a job as a sales associate at Nordstrom. If the student is a minor, the parents should have to sign off after reviewing these facts.

-The driving age in the US (16) is too low.
Also, after a certain age, let's say 65, people should have to pass yearly road tests in order to keep their DL.

- There are a lot of people out there who need to be put away in mental institutions for the public good.

- Orphanges should reopen.

- Women fetishize designer handbags and shoes because they can't fit into high end designer clothes, which normally don't come bigger than a very tight 10.

- Most people think their jobs are more interesting than they really are and talk about them too much.

- People who talk (brag) about how busy they are bore the shit out of me.

-Middle class and UMC kids in the US are absurdly overscheduled and spend too much time in minivans.

-schools should have mandatory cooking classes.

- real estate is often a stupid investment

I'm a big proponent of 'ignant' rap. The dirty, grimy, underbelly of hip hop. Hip Hop heads get in piss fights with rock heads and older folks over hip hop, "how lil wayne, rick ross, and gangster rap isn't real hip hop, and that they should hear Common, K-Os, Mf Doom, amonst other conscious rappers".

I say fuck that. Hip hop as a form of entertainment is at its best when the subject matter is money, drugs, and hoes. Its unhinged, raw, and usually comically hilarious.

There must be lots of bass involved, your windows should be shimmying from the decibel levels, and the lyrics so obnoxious it will make Maryanne cover her children's ears in horror as your drive past her on Church sunday.

Shit is poetry.

An Obese rapper talking about robbing, and possibly killing you at gun point:

How about Pimp C trying to convince a broad to suck his dick while letting her know he's so bad if he could he'd suck it himself. She should be privileged to be asked:

How about a song that celebrates a general ignorant lifestyle:

I have no qualms letting people know I love my ignorant rap (amongst other genres).

Hip Hop is nothing more than entertainment. People who say hip hop is ruining America are way off base and fail to see the music for its entertainment value.

Amen. People read way too much into rap whereas I think rappers themselves are simply doing it for the entertainment factor, as you said. Also, fuck all the "progressive/conscious" rap that RVFers unfortunately seem to like so much (Lupe Fiasco, Common, Kid Cudi etc) I still love you guys, though. [Image: blush.gif]

It's always confusing that guys think they can only listen to Hip Hop from one region or one style yet there favorite rappers don't feel the same way.

Didn't UGK do two songs with Talib Kweli right before Pimp died?

Hasn't Common been featured on T.I.'s, Luda's, and two of Game's albums?

Mannie Fresh has barely produced for anybody but himself and Juve recently yet he's working on a whole album with Mos Def.

The fucked up part about this is that i'm a rabid four times a week footballer and i can't dispute your comment. Also why i can't have a conversation with the fan boys who can't comprehend how someone of my skill level and passion could not give two fucks about the professional players/leagues.
