Has the news coming out of Brazil changed your plans to go there?

Because it has mine. With stories on feminism (slutwalk), obesity, oppressive government, and now a crack epidemic, I have just about no interest in going there, even though my last visit was quite positive.

How much importance should be place on the negative news we see here? Can Brazil still be poosy paradise for men? I'm conflicted.

I am going there in a little week. I am hoping for the best. But the news shared on this site has made me sceptical.

That and the prizes makes a low priority for me.

Nah, because we have all of that here in the USA and we maneuver around it. We could do the same in Brazil.

^^ Oh Brazil is still better than the USA. That definitely was not my argument.

But I believe it's sliding down the list of countries. A lot of guys are preferring Colombia now. Five years ago this wasn't the case.

Ooooohhhhhh.....yes, I agree with that. Dominican Republic and Panama has taken over for me because of shorter flights (even a nonstop from Dulles) and less of the USA-like traits has hit those areas.

PS: I know Columbia is probably better than Panama but I cannot go there easily with this clearance.

It's sort of given me reasons not to go, but having never been it's still planned for Winter 2013 (northern hemisphere) along with my buddies, we've got a few London PUA friends living there.

Roosh, I think Brazil has until the World Cup in 2014, if you find the right 2nd tier city and 5 years if you go to 3rd tier. But it will never be the same as it was 10 or even 5 years ago.
After 5 years Brazil is done IMO.

This last Brazilian trip, I had the best time in Manaus..... not because the girls are that attractive compared to other cities (though IMO they are underrated) but because it still felt like "old school" Brazil.
In other words it oozed sexuality, being foreign was still a DHV, the girls available are easy, young, thin and plentiful and true westernization is still years away. Thus, I can only imagine how it must have in Rio 10 yrs ago.
Manaus is somewhere in between 2nd and 3rd tier.

Even the Northeast, which I felt years ago was underappreciated, has really gone down hill because it has been hit hard by the obesity epedemic. Thus, flakiness and bitch shields are sky high, especially among the young attractive and thin girls.

My younger brother, who is a forum member and came with me this last time to Brazil, will be staying in Colombia 3 months starting in January. Hopefully, he wont be saying similar things about Colombia, when he gets back.

Colombia, DR and Peru have jumped it on my list, even though Jiu Jitsu is my main hobby.

Add to this the exorbiant costs associated with a trip. The real has really climbed the last few years.

Wouldn't effect me. You can dig up bad news articles about any country in the world that would make you think twice about going. How much bad news do you read about FSU countries? Russia for example, mafia, skinheads, crooked cops, poverty, corruption, Chechyn terrorism, etc. Doesn't mean you will experience any of these problems personally if you go there. Brazil has 200 million people now. Even if a good amount of them are messed up, there are going to be countless millions that won't be. The bad can be sidestepped. I still look forward to my next visit to the land of samba.

My first trip to brazil was in 2008, i returned in 2010 to see other parts if the country. In my opinion its extremely overhyped. I thorougly enjoy some aspects of the culture and studied enough of the language to be semifluent but i have almost no interest of returning except to maybe check out the amazon region, but even that is low on my travel priorities. I agree that after the olympics i dont think brazil will be a good roi for me, for that reason alone i'll probably try and make one final trip there before 2016.

No interest in going to places where screeching feminists are in charge.

It's definitely slipped far down on my list of potential destinations. Colombia and the Dominican Republic have greater priority for myself.

My travel interests change over time though. Thailand used to be at the top of my S.E. Asian list, the Phils. weren't even on my radar. Now the Phils. hold greater interest for me.

I didnt find it that expensive this last trip, because the dollar was at almost 2.10 reais, while the first time I went it was at 1.7.
Also, the monthly rent of furnished apartments in cities other than Rio or Sao Paulo are comparable to that in Medellin and Cali.
Now that the dollar is at 1,750 colombian pesos, the difference in prices between the 2 countries is not much. The biggest difference is the taxi fare, which in Brazi is ridiculous.

As to crime, you feel safer in Colombia than in Brazil, in general.

I will still go to Brazil 2 more times. But it will definitely be 2nd or 3rd tier cities, unless there is some dramatic turnaround which I dont anticipate.

Speakeasy, I can live with all the bad news or things coming out of a country. Brazil has had a history of all the things you mentioned and more, minus terrorism or skinheads.

So that is not what is troubling me. It is basically the increase of westernization, feminism and obesity at such a fast rate.....that has me concerned.

Despite all the bad rap Brasil is getting, I think it still has a long way to go before being totally done. Sure it no longer is the cheap pussy paradise it was 10 years ago but it still is an amazing place. I personally love Brasil, the culture, music, futebol, have friends in various locations and a social network already in place in these cities and speak the lingo fluently. So for me, Brasil will always hold a very special place. As to whether it will still be a good place to go to get laid for the average foreign dude without the above?

I'd still say yes, as long as he makes a little effort to learn as much Portuguese before he gets there and picks a 2nd tier city away from Rio or SP. Despite all the talks of the progress of feminism, I firmly believe it is far from reaching the 2nd tier cities in the interior of the states of say Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Espirito Santo, Goias, Bahia or Ceara. I wouldn't include the southern tri states of Parana, Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina since they are predominantely white and Eastern European in their social fabrics and thoughts, so there it might be more difficult but in the other states cited earlier, pick any 2nd tier city in the interior and invest as much time as you can in learning as much Portuguese as you can and you should have a very fun time. Oh and the more Reais you bring with you, the better.

I for one, can't wait to return to my first crush, Brasil! And the opportunities that Brasil offers are only 2nd to China and I'm very strongly considering dividing my time between Brasil and China, which are 2 worlds that are totally apart yet very fun in their own way and extremely lucrative if done right.

Saudades!!!

Good advice VP. Going 2nd or 3rd tier, especially more into the interior, and speaking conversational portuguese are the keys to getting the most out Brazil now and getting the "old school" brasileiro experience.

My next trip will probably be for the World Cup in 2014 and then 2 months exploring 2 cities off the beaten track.

Feminism will ruin a place. I don't see any reason to spend too much time in any place that is too expensive. It's got to be cheaper than my home country for me to consider it a long term playground. Russia has a obesity problem too now. They are hardly all beautiful anymore. When a country becomes too expensive and too hard to get laid, I try to see the cultural and natural sights and get out ASAP. Life is too short to waste in mediocre countries!

Brianmark, first time I have heard in the forum, that Russia has an obesity problem. Man, is their any country now that is improving instead of declining?[Image: huh.gif]

Is this info from personal experience being there or from statistics? Is the problem confined to major citiies only?

One of the reasons I am going to Russia this summer and autumn is that Brazil is on a rapid decline. 10 or even 5 years ago, I would have just returned to Brazil and not bothered with the huge effort to learn Russian and hunt over there.

no, I'm not really swayed too much by forum consensus anymore. sometimes the bad news is not true, and the same thing goes for good news as well. It's very easy for a few members to change the perception people have here of an entire country.

Ultimately, the answer to your travel questions is this: travel. Go travel and see for yourself.

Of course, it would be nice if someone else could save you the time by relaying their experiences to you, but that just isn't going to work much of the time. Places are different at different times of the year. Chicks of a certain country will react differently to your personality, look, and ethnic characteristics. What led to the proliferation of science was empiricism. You need to be in the country, gaming as hard as you can constantly in every area (day, online, night, social) for a month or two, before you really know if a country is for you or not. Look at what you did, and the results you got, and you will have your travel questions answered.

Tenerife, what you are saying is all good in theory. However, there are so many countries to pick from and most guys here dont have the time and money to go exploring all over the world.

So, I find Forum consensus a good tool to gage whether I will visit a country or not. Of course one should also do his own research, make decisions based on past experiences and honestly assess what his strengths and weaknesses are.

Funny, I just decided to go to Bangkok again but had been on the fence whether I should do Rio instead. I used to live there, have plenty of friends and much cheaper accommodations but the vibe I get from Rio girls lately has been close to entitled US girls so Bangkok it is....
